Spruced Up Home Services Policies

Thank you for trusting us with your home. These policies help us provide reliable service, protect our cleaning team, and set clear expectations. By booking a cleaning, you agree to the policies below.

Payments and Late Fees

Recurring cleanings

Payment is due on the day of your cleaning. Please pay the same day whenever possible.

A one-time 5% late fee will be added on Saturday to any unpaid recurring invoice.

Initial, one-time, and move-out cleanings

Final payment is due within 48 hours after your cleaning is completed. A one-time 5% late fee will be added once the invoice becomes overdue.

Payments may be made through your invoice, Venmo, or cash. Tips are optional and are given directly to your cleaning team.

Responsible Parties

For residential accounts with two adults responsible for payment, both adults must provide their full legal names and contact information. Both responsible adults will be listed on the account and must separately sign or electronically accept these policies before service begins.

By accepting these policies, each responsible adult authorizes the services and agrees to be jointly responsible for all invoices, approved add-ons, cancellation fees, late fees, and unpaid balances.

Clients must notify Spruced Up Home Services if a responsible party, mailing address, email address, or phone number changes.

Deposits

A deposit is required to reserve an initial, one-time, or move-out cleaning:

  • 40% of the estimated price, with a $95 minimum for most services

  • 45% for services priced over $500

The deposit is applied to your final balance. Deposits become nonrefundable 72 hours after payment.

Cancellations and Skipped Visits

Please provide as much notice as possible when canceling or rescheduling.

Cancellations within 48 hours

A $50 fee applies when a cleaning is canceled or rescheduled within 48 hours of the appointment.

The fee may be paid on the cancellation date or added to your next cleaning.

Skipped recurring visits

Recurring prices are based on the agreed cleaning frequency. Skipping a biweekly visit creates a longer gap between cleanings and requires additional time at the next appointment.

If a biweekly cleaning is skipped, the next visit will be charged at the regular biweekly price plus 25%.

Repeated skips may result in a permanent price or schedule change.

If a visit is canceled within 48 hours and skipped instead of rescheduled, both the $50 cancellation fee and the 25% skipped-visit adjustment will apply.

Rescheduling and return trips

Rescheduling is subject to availability. If we must make a separate trip or significantly reroute our schedule to return later that week, a $50 special-trip fee may apply.

Why Do We Charge These Fees?

We reserve recurring appointments specifically for each client and schedule our employees based on that expected work.

When a cleaning is canceled, our cleaners may lose scheduled hours, and we often cannot fill the opening on short notice. Cancellations also require us to reorganize routes and may affect other clients’ appointment times.

As a small business, these fees help us provide dependable schedules and stable work for our cleaning team.

Lockouts and Home Access

Clients must provide a confirmed way for our team to enter the home.

A $50 lockout fee applies if our cleaners cannot enter or begin working when they arrive. The fee may be paid that day or added to your next cleaning.

If you would like to arrange a spare key or lockbox, please contact us before your visit.

Additional Services and Sheet Changes

Your scheduled price includes only the services listed on your cleaning checklist.

Additional services, including sheet changes, must be requested before your appointment. Our employees are paid hourly, so we must account for all additional labor when planning each visit.

  • Standard sheet change: $15 per bed

  • King beds, bunk beds, or difficult setups: $20 per bed

  • Clean sheets must be left on or beside each bed

  • Laundry service is not included

Other requests outside your regular checklist may require additional time and an added fee. Same-day requests are not guaranteed and may need to be scheduled separately.

Preparing for Your Cleaning

Before our team arrives, please:

  • Pick up clothing, toys, trash, and floor clutter.

  • Secure valuables, sentimental items, and fragile belongings.

  • Place clean sheets on each bed if a sheet change was requested.

  • Secure pets away from the areas being cleaned.

  • Provide updated entry instructions.

  • Tell us about add-ons, service changes, hazards, or unusual conditions.

Heavily cluttered, unsafe, or inaccessible areas may be skipped or cleaned around.

Pet Safety

Pets must be safely secured away from the cleaning areas before our team arrives.

If a loose, barking, jumping, aggressive, or disruptive animal makes a cleaner feel unsafe or prevents the cleaner from working, the cleaner may leave immediately. The appointment will be treated as a lockout, and the $50 fee will apply.

We are not responsible for pets that escape from unsecured rooms, doors, gates, or enclosures.

Illness, Biohazards, and Unsafe Conditions

Please reschedule if anyone in the home has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or flu-like symptoms. If rescheduling is not possible, the sick person must remain completely separated from the cleaning areas.

We do not clean:

  • Vomit, blood, urine, or feces

  • Sharps or medical waste

  • Rotten food or bodily fluids

  • Mold or active pest infestations

  • Other hazardous materials

Undisclosed hazards or excessive conditions may result in additional fees of up to $400, reduced service, or the team leaving immediately.

Move-Out and One-Time Cleanings

Move-out homes must be completely empty and ready for cleaning when our team arrives.

If the home is not empty, accessible, or ready for service, the team may leave, the deposit may be forfeited, and rescheduling is not guaranteed.

Please disclose heavy buildup, excessive trash, large amounts of pet hair, hazards, incomplete packing, or unusually poor conditions before your appointment. This allows us to provide accurate pricing and appropriate staffing.

Service Limitations

We do not clean:

  • Biohazards or mold

  • Active pest infestations

  • Pet housing or litter boxes

  • Medical equipment

  • Clogged plumbing

  • Chandeliers or television screens

  • Outdoor areas

  • Unsafe or heavily cluttered spaces

We cannot guarantee the removal of rust, mineral buildup, mold or mildew staining, bleach damage, or permanent stains. Restorative cleaning may require multiple visits, and complete restoration cannot be guaranteed.

We may refuse any product, cleaning method, surface, or task that could create an unsafe condition or cause damage.

Quality Guarantee

We do not issue refunds for completed services.

If something was missed, please send photos within 24 hours of your cleaning. When appropriate, we will reclean the affected area or address it during your next visit.

We are not responsible for messes or damage caused by household members, guests, or pets after our team leaves.

Property and Damage

Please identify valuable, sentimental, fragile, loose, or previously damaged items before your cleaning.

If we directly damage an item, we will work with you toward an appropriate repair or replacement. We are not responsible for damage caused by ordinary wear, age, poor installation, preexisting damage, or circumstances outside our control.

Walls and doors

Cleaning flat or matte paint may remove pigment or cause discoloration. By requesting wall or door cleaning, you accept this risk and confirm that the surface is suitable for cleaning.

Adhesive removal is not included.

Window blinds

Mini blinds are dusted only because wiping may bend or damage them. Damaged or fragile blinds may be skipped.

Oven Cleaning

Only use products confirmed safe for your oven and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

If using Easy-Off Blue, apply it the day before your appointment, avoid heating elements, and do not mix it with other chemicals. You may instead run the oven’s self-cleaning cycle the night before.

Clients are responsible for confirming that products and self-cleaning functions are safe for their appliances.

Professional Conduct

Clients and team members must communicate respectfully.

Sexual remarks, harassment, aggressive language, yelling, threats, or unsafe behavior may result in our team leaving immediately and services being terminated.

You will be charged for work already completed, and any deposit may be forfeited.

Photos and Videos

We may photograph or record cleaned areas for quality control, training, service documentation, or marketing.

We will avoid including faces, names, addresses, or private details that could identify you or your home.

By booking, you permit this use unless you opt out of marketing use in writing before your appointment. A marketing opt-out does not prevent us from taking photos needed to document service quality, damage, hazards, or job conditions.
