Where it started
Hello! I'm Megan Chastain, owner of Spruced Up Home Services LLC.
I started Spruced Up in 2022 as a stay-at-home mom and military spouse with a two-year-old at home. When I was ready to return to work, I quickly realized that my background in retail management didn’t fit my family’s needs. Between childcare costs, limited job opportunities, and an unpredictable military lifestyle, finding a healthy balance between work and family felt nearly impossible.
Out of equal parts stubbornness, frustration, and a little desperation, I posted an ad offering house-cleaning services. I booked my first clean that very day!
One home and one returning client at a time, Spruced Up began to grow. Today, I’m proud to provide local moms and military spouses with well-paying, flexible work that respects their responsibilities outside of the job. Our mission is bigger than cleaning homes. We want to help women earn their own income, support their families, and build schedules that work for their lives.
As moms and military spouses ourselves, we understand how hectic life can get. Everyone needs help sometimes, and there is absolutely no shame in that. We are grateful to support the same communities where we live, work, and raise our families.

Our Mission
Spruced Up exists to create meaningful opportunities for underemployed military spouses, single mothers, and women who need work that fits the realities of raising a family.
We were built on one powerful belief: every woman should have the opportunity to earn her own income, access resources, and build a life she never feels financially trapped in.
Traditional jobs often do not accommodate school schedules, childcare, deployments, frequent moves, or the demands of single motherhood. The consequences are significant. Military spouses experience an unemployment rate of approximately 20%, while an estimated 28% to 42% of those who are working remain underemployed. More than half report that their pay is not enough to live on.
Spruced Up creates work that fits real life. Our cleaners work primarily during school hours, earn meaningful income, and remain present for their families without being asked to give up motherhood, independence, or ambition.
Financial independence is about more than money. It creates choices, security, and opportunity. Financial abuse is reported in 99% of domestic-violence cases, and survivors frequently identify financial concerns as a major reason for staying with or returning to an abusive partner. We believe every woman deserves the ability to support herself and make decisions about her future from a place of stability, not financial fear. (NNEDV)
Our mission goes beyond providing cleaning work. We help women build practical skills, strengthen their own businesses, and learn how to create dependable income on their own terms. We coach our crew members along the way, with the goal that every woman who moves on from Spruced Up leaves with a valuable trade, greater confidence, and the knowledge to operate a business of her own.

Ready for a quote? Please complete our Jobber request form and include photos or a video tour of your space. Every home is different, so initial-cleaning prices are based on the individual needs of each job. We offer flat-rate recurring services with optional add-ons available anytime.
In-person walkthroughs are available on a limited basis. Walkthroughs for homes located on base must be scheduled directly with the owner and are subject to availability.
